Beats by Zomboy!

Hey there BZF party people!  It is a known fact that my most favourite way to drive to work is with some skull shattering bass heavy tunes playing as my little Mitsubishi pumps out the best volume it can.  I know I’m not alone when I say that some days are just harder to kick start than others.

If you too suffer from this affliction, sometimes referred to as ‘Monday-itis’ or ‘Die Monday Die’, I am happy to share with you somebody who has become a bit of a saviour in such situations. Presenting Zomboy – that’s right boys and girls, we thought the undead were only useful for feasting on our fleshy physiques, but as it turns out, the next name in Electronic Dance Music is quite audibly apocalyptic.

Whilst doing my usual Youtube binge-fest, I came across a track called Survivors, now if you’re not familiar with dub-step or other forms of EDM then it’s the kind of music that your parents would describe as a broken machine, stuck on repeat and possessed by the artist formerly auto-tuned as Cher.

Having to know more about this boy zombie DJ, I continued to slurp up more of his tunes and quickly became his number one fan (stalker) on Twitter.  I like the fact that Zomboy has infected his music with sirens, chaotic synths and hectic beats which really adds to the doomsday delirium that you experience when listening to his playlist.

A stand out for me is the track Nuclear, which does an excellent job of creating a dark atmosphere by adding some authentic sound grabs and emergency public announcements.  Well I feel like I have done enough talking and feel it is time that you experience the deadly rhythms of Zomboy!!!

Midweek Musings

Feeling pretty under the weather this week and I'm pretty sure that the start of the zombie plague is happening in my work section with people dropping like flies daily and no one yet to return!!! Suspicious? I think so, maybe some illegal drug experiment distributed via the air ducts but who knows how it all started! So get your bug out bag packed and ready to go and good luck!!!

So stay safe and most importantly don't get bit!!

The Unoffical Hunger Games Wilderness Survival Guide

In case you did not catch the fine print: This book is unofficial and unauthorized. It is not authorized, approved, licensed, or endorsed by Suzanne Collins, her publishers, or Lionsgate Entertainment Corporation.

I get the feeling they are not even friends on Facebook.

Having reviewed Creek Stewart's Bug Out Book, I was keen to read this book. The first thing it did was get me interested in the Hunger Games books which I have not read (nor have I seen the movies). I assumed the books were all about kids killing each other. Turns out there is a lot of survival stuff as well. Bonus!

Creek has obviously aimed this book at a younger audience and he has heavily based the narrative to match the Hunger Games. There are sponsors tips and lot of references to the characters and events in the books.

Nevertheless it does offer some very useful survival advice.  While not as comprehensive as it could be, it does make for a good refresher in the basics. Starting with the Survival Mentality it then covers the main essentials of shelter, water, fire, tool, food, first aid and navigation. There is cool stuff like making a Dakota fire hole, using iodine to disinfect water and making "prison rope" from toilet paper.

Sadly there is nothing about fighting off zombies but I guess that's because they never featured in Hunger Games.

Bite off more than you can chew.

Zombies..... So hot right now!!!!

Hey there BZF bandits, I thought this week I would bring you some fun TV commercials featuring a bloody handful of zombies!! These days the advertising industry is constantly coming up with new ways to encourage you to part with your hard earned cash, and zombies seem to be firmly planted on the casting couch at the moment.

So sit back and watch the undead doing their best to sell you, well, almost anything and everything!!

The spirit is strong but the body is weak

Yes I need to take the zombie threat seriously and get practicing my zombie survival skills. That is why I am heading off on an intensive survival refresher course. Got my survival knife, zombie combat manual, snacks and my cuddly meerkat all packed. Yes mum I am coming to visit.

Sadly this means no more issues of Apocalypse Hal for a while but I do hope to blog a few survival tips so keep an eye out.
